Motor Image Pilipinas Inc., the authorized distributor of
Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, has officially launched the
all-new, fifth-generation Subaru Forester.
Subaru Forester
Built on the
Subaru Global Platform, a new chassis that Subaru claims is more rigid and thus more responsive but also lighter which provides for a more comfortable ride, the Forester now only has 0ne engine in its lineup--a
2.0-liter, direct-fuel injection, horizontally-opposed, four-cylinder, DOHC mill that, paired with the
Lineartronic CVT, produces
154 hp and 196 Nm of torque. As you may recall, Subaru
has discontinued the turbocharged Forester in favor of a hybrid powertrain which is
expected to be sold in the local market in 2020.
Complementing Subaru's iconic
Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system is its
X-Mode feature that "elevates driving performance on more challenging terrain" by adjusting the vehicle's steering and throttle response, transmission, Vehicle Dynamic Control System, and--if the situation calls for it--Hill Descent Control that provides for grater confidence and convenience when tackling different road conditions.
The all-new Forester is also equipped with
Active Torque Vectoring which helps drivers control the vehicle by applying the brakes to the inner wheel while simultaneously distributing more torque to the outer wheel as they take a sharp turn, improving cornering stability.
And then there's Subaru's
award-winning EyeSight driver-assist technology that utilizes stereo cameras mounted to the sides of the rear-view mirror to scan the road for unanticipated dangers and, when needed, can either slow down or stop the vehicle completely to prevent any untoward collisions.
Subaru Forester
The Forester has a
minimum ground clearance of 220 mm that, coupled with the raised roof rails with added tie-down points for more loading options, makes the compact crossover useful for going on off-road adventures.
Inside, the all-new Forester has a
6.3-inch-screen infotainment system, USB charging ports and air-conditioning vents behind the center console, added rear leg room, and for the range-topping variant, an expansive sunroof.
"The all-new Forester is now bigger and better, both inside and out," said
Glenn Tan, deputy chairm and and managing director of Tan Chong International, the holding company that owns the Motor Image Group, Subaru's distributor within the ASEAN region. "This is the first Forester which incorporates all of Subaru's four proprietary technologies which means a safer, more comfortable, and enjoyable driving experience."
"We are thrilled to bring the new Forester to the Philippines, as the previous generations of Forester have proven very popular here and is perfect for the family. We are confident it will continue to be one of the most popular SUVs sold here," Tan added.
The Forester is available in three variants:
- 2.0i-L - PHP1.598 million
- 2.0i-L EyeSight - PHP1.698 million
- 2.0i-S EyeSight - PHP1.798 million
The all-new, fifth-generation Subaru Forester is available now for booking at Subaru showrooms across the country.
