This week, Subaru took to Twitter and teased what most could make out as the 2022 WRX — in manual transmission. This confirms that the upcoming revival of the iconic rally icon will have three pedals, a stick, and a handbrake.
Subaru wrote: “The most exciting WRX ever is coming soon. Engineered to thrill, the 2022 #SubaruWRX is everything your right foot has been waiting for. Sign up to get the latest updates at http://subaru.com/2022-wrx."
Along with it is a short video of what looks like a recycled clip of Subaru’s previous teaser. However, inserted was a momentary interior shot showing the driver shifting the stick of a manual tranny. During those few frames, we were also able to make out a handbrake.
The 2022 Subaru WRX was scheduled to debut in the canceled 2021 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Info as to when — or where — the 2022 WRX will premiere is yet to be disclosed.
