Subaru unveils premier EV SUV Solterra
Subaru has formally introduced the company’s first-ever all-electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the 2023 Subaru Solterra.

The Subaru Solterra was showcased at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show.Unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the all-new Subaru Solterra features new electrification and in-vehicle technology keeping intact the famous Subaru heritage of safety and go-anywhere capability.
The latest nameplate was coined from Latin words meaning “Sun” and “Earth” to “represent Subaru’s commitment to deliver traditional SUV capabilities in an environmentally responsible package.”
The latest offering is equipped with a new Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system that now channels smooth linear output from Subaru StarDrive Technology that delivers substantial on-demand torque at all speeds with power and driver-selectable regenerative modes.
Another feature that the all-new Solterra shares with other Subaru crossover models is the X-Mode that gives increased performance in low-friction and off-road conditions. It also has Grip Control that integrates Hill Ascent and Descent Assist.
The premier electric five-seater crossover from Subaru is 4,688mm long, 1,859mm wide and 1,651mm tall with 210mm ground clearance and 2,850mm wheelbase. Its electric motors in the front and rear that can deliver as much as 215hp and 332Nm are hooked with the high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack.
Further, the vehicle has up to 3,568 liters of space (or 850 liters if the rear seats are in an upright position.
With regards to convenience and comfort, the Subaru Solterra comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia system that are wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatible, a wireless charging dock as well as remote climate control and remote lock/unlocking.
The 2023 Subaru Solterra wears a myriad of active safety technology, including the Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology; Blind Spot Monitor with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Parking Support Brake.
The first time in a Subaru, newly-introduced model is fitted with 360-Degree Surround-View Camera system (for better all-around situational awareness) and Safe Exit Assist (which notifies occupants before exiting the vehicle, of approaching vehicles with an audible and visual warning).
Moreover, the Subaru Solterra is furnished with e-Subaru Global Platform that has been engineered to bring together Subaru’s all-wheel drive capability, superior driving dynamics, and world-leading passive safety.
The new SUV comes standard with driver and front passenger frontal airbags, side curtain airbags, side pelvis/torso airbags, and a driver and front passenger knee airbag.
The all-new Solterra will go on sale by middle of next year.
