In a recent press release, Subaru of America Inc. announced the pricing of its 2022 Forester lineup. The upcoming US-spec SUV will be offered in six variants which include Base, Premium, Sport, all-new Wilderness, Limited, and Touring.
The Base model will be priced at US$25,195 and will come with power windows, door locks, and side mirrors. Also to expect are dual USB ports in the front center console, a multi-function display, remote keyless entry, and a combination meter with color LCD.
To be offered as a standard feature in the Base variant is the Subaru Starlink 6.5-inch Multimedia Plus system with a high-resolution touchscreen, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free phone and audio streaming. It will also come with SiriusXM and a CD player.
Taking things up a notch is the Premium model, priced from US$28,195. This variant adds heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, and windshield wiper de-icer. Also included is a 10-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, seven-inch aluminum alloy wheels in black with machine finish, roof rails, dark tint privacy glass, and a panoramic power moonroof.
Inside is an upgraded leather-wrapped steering wheel with silver stitching, center dash panel trim in black with silver metallic finish, and chrome inner door handles. Also standard is the X-Mode with hill descent control.
An optional add-on can be had with the Premium trim which includes blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert along with a power rear gate with automatic close and height memory. In addition, the package also adds the automatic emergency steering function to the standard EyeSight system. The package upgrade will set back US customers US$1,165.
Offered at US$29,765, the Sport variant makes the aforementioned blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert as well as the automatic emergency steering function standard features.
In terms of looks, it comes with exclusive gloss black trims, black-finish 18-inch wheels, and a black rear roof spoiler. Orange accents can be found on the side and front lower valances of the SUV as well as on the roof rail mounts. Also in orange is the “SPORT” badge set on the vehicle’s rear.
The cabin features a unique dark gray color scheme with orange stitching and accents. It also improves upon the Premium model’s standard X-Mode into Dual X-Mode.
A special add-on package will also be available for the Sport trim which adds reverse automatic braking, the Subaru Starlink eight-inch Multimedia Plus system, Harman Kardon premium sound system, and a power rear gate. This package costs US$1,645.
On the other hand, the Wilderness variant packs outdoorsy features and a sticker price of US$32,820.
Included is an exclusive chassis suspension setup that’s specially tuned and comes with longer coil springs and shock absorbers. It rides on exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels in matte black finish with Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires. It also features a redesigned front fascia, larger wheel arch cladding, a front skid plate, unique hexagonal LED fog lights, and an anti-glare hood decal in matte-black finish.
The seats are finished with water-resistant StarTex urethane.
Customers can get the Subaru Starlink eight-inch Multimedia Plus system, Harman Kardon premium sound system, and a power rear gate for an additional US$1,850.
The Limited variant — priced at $31,875 — wears 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels in black with machine finish; exterior mirrors in matching body color with integrated turn signals, and dark gray accent trim for the fog lights.
Its long list of standard features includes automatic emergency steering, one-touch folding rear seatback, the Subaru Starlink eight-inch Multimedia Plus, perforated leather-trimmed upholstery, silver metallic with gloss black finish center dash panel trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever handle, and dual-zone automatic climate control with voice-activated controls.
An optional add-on packs the multimedia system with navigation powered by TomTom, Harman Kardon speaker system, and a heated steering wheel. All that goes for US$1,695.
Lastly, the Touring model sports a befitting price tag of US$35,295. Being the range-topping variant, it comes with the full list of features which includes the DriverFocus distraction mitigation system with gesture control capability.
Outside, it’s distinguished by newly redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels in dark gray with machine finish, satin chrome exterior folding mirrors with integrated turn signals, and LED fog lights with chrome trim.
The luxurious cabin can be had in exclusive Black or Saddle Brown perforated leather-trimmed upholstery.
Subaru says that the 2022 Forester lineup will arrive in US dealerships in October.
