Suzuki Indonesia unveils hybrid Grand Vitara, updated S-Presso
Suzuki Indonesia has unveiled the hybrid Grand Vitara subcompact crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) at the ongoing 2023 Indonesia International Motor Show.

Per Suzuki Indonesia, the updated Suzuki S-Presso is fitted with the new 1.0-liter K10C engine mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or Suzuki’s five-speed Auto Gear Shift system.The Indonesian-market Suzuki Grand Vitara measures 4,345 millimeters (mm) long, 1,795mm wide, and 1,645mm tall. It also has a wheelbase of 2,600mm.
For comparison’s sake, it’s a little bit smaller than the Philippine-spec Suzuki XL7, which has an overall length of 4,450mm, an overall width of 1,775mm, and an overall height of 1,710mm.
Powering the Indonesian-spec Suzuki Grand Virata is a 1.5-liter Dual Jet K15C engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This setup is paired with the Suzuki Integrated Starter Generator and a lithium-ion battery, pretty much like the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid launched in our country.
Suzuki’s Indonesian arm said that the hybrid Grand Vitara puts out 101 horsepower with 136Nm of torque.
Highlights of the Suzuki Grand Vitara include LED projector headlamps with Autolight and Guide Me Light functions, a panoramic sunroof, an onboard head-up display, a wireless charging dock, and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Safety-wise, it is equipped with features such as an electronic stability program (ESP), an anti-lock braking system, brake assist, electronic brake distribution, a 360-degree camera, a rear parking camera, a rear parking sensor, as well as cruise control.
“Currently, there is a movement in trends and needs in the automotive industry with SUVs dominating in Indonesia. In addition, public awareness of environmentally friendly vehicles continues to increase. With a comprehensive and in-depth study, we are innovating to meet these needs by bringing back one of Suzuki’s historic SUVs, namely the Suzuki Grand Vitara, which offers premium SUVs equipped with the latest sophisticated features and electrification technology so that fuel use will be more efficient,” commented Suzuki Indonesia Marketing Director Matsushita Ryohei.

Meanwhile, the updated S-Presso gets a new powerplant in the form of the 1.0-liter K10C engine. According to the carmaker, this reworked version of the K10B mill can put out around 66 horses and has 89Nm of pulling power. It can be mated with a five-speed manual gearbox or Suzuki’s five-speed Auto Gear Shift system.
Suzuki also added that the Indonesian-market S-Presso now gets an engine auto start-stop feature, which could help owners conserve fuel.
Further, Suzuki Indonesia said that the 2023 S-Presso also gets ESP, hill-hold control, power side mirrors, a new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and ISOFIX tethers.
“S-Presso’s success as Suzuki’s new entry-level star in 2022 has become our passion for providing better updates for potential new customers in early 2023. We care about the needs of S-Presso consumers and also add Suzuki values to this product, such as safety features, entertainment, and a more environmentally friendly engine.
