Suzuki is 3rd best-selling moto brand in PH for Q1 2023

Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH) started the year strong after being the third best-selling motorcycle distributor in the country for the opening quarter of 2023.

SPH Motorcycle Marketing Manager Nenuka Guba shared the achievement during a recent engagement with select members of the motoring media.

Without sharing exact figures, Guba told Carmudi Philippines that the company was able to corner 30-35 percent share of the market in the aforementioned period, based on the collective data from the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA).

To note, MDPPA's sales for the opening quarter of the year were at 447,429 units. The volume reflected a 16.7-percent increase — from an average of 127,000 motorcycles per month to 149,000 vehicles delivered to clients monthly during the January-March 2022 timeline. 

In addition, Guba said that the majority of SPH’s retail performance can be attributed to the strong sales of the Suzuki Raider and the Smash, which are the sales drivers in their respective categories. Aside from leading the underbone category, SPH is also enjoying a growing number of followers in the scooter segment, Guba noted.

Per MDPPA, its scooter segment garnered a total of 269,652 units sold in the first quarter of the year while the underbone category was able to hand over 77,152 units to their respective buyers.
