The accolades for the Suzuki Jimny continue to pour in from all over the world, seven months after it was first launched in its home market of Japan in July 2018, as the mini SUV has been named as a finalist in three separate categories for the 2019 World Car Awards.
After the first round of votes among the 80-strong members of automotive journalists that comprise the judging panel of the World Car Awards, the Jimny has made it into the top five for World Urban Car, top five for World Car Design, as well as into the top 10 for the overall World Car of The Year categories.
The next round of judging will then determine the final shortlist in each category and these will be announced on March 5 at the Geneva Motor Show.
"Suzuki has again seen off many rival manufacturers from all corners of the globe to become a 2019 World Car finalist--this time with its all-new Jimny," said World Car Awards Program Juror, Executive Director, and Co-Chairman Mike Rutherford. "This is a company that produces some of the finest small cars on the market, and it may yet go on to lift a trophy or three at the New York International Motor Show in April."
As was shared by Suzuki Philippines’s (SPI) then-Automobile Division General Manager Shuzo Hoshikura at the 2018 Philippine International Motor Show in October 2018, the all-new Jimny will arrive either in July or August 2019 and that it'll be priced "at around PHP1.1 million." Can you still wait for the all-new Suzuki Jimny then?
