Suzuki is bolstering its hybrid lineup by launching the electrified variant of the XL7 small sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Indonesia.
The Indonesian-spec Suzuki XL7 Hybrid joins the likes of the Grand Vitara Hybrid and the Ertiga Hybrid.
“Suzuki has introduced the XL7 since 2020 and immediately received a warm welcome from the Indonesian public, so that it has become one of Suzuki's flagships to date. Suzuki continues to bring various innovations to provide better products and services to support customers’ daily needs. As we are currently doing, the New XL7 Hybrid is a form of Suzuki’s continued contribution to a sustainable world," Suzuki Indonesia 4W Sales and Marketing Director Matsushita Ryohei said.
"The New XL7 Hybrid still carries a dashing and functional SUV design for families, and now Suzuki combines the advantages that already exist in the XL7 with the addition of environmentally friendly SHVS technology. The use of SHVS technology makes the New XL7 Hybrid the pioneer of a seven-passenger SUV in its class that uses hybrid technology,” the executive added.
Under the hood of the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is the carmaker’s K15B engine accompanied by its Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) technology. SHVS is comprised of the carmaker’s Integrated Starter Generator and a lithium-ion battery.
Aside from the new powertrain setup, Suzuki's Indonesian arm pointed out that the XL7 Hybrid gets a host of new updates including exterior and interior appointments as well as safety features.
At its fore is a new black front grille while its side profile is highlighted by a set of new black wheels. Additionally, the Indonesian-spec Suzuki XL7 Hybrid gets a new auto light with guide me light feature as well as new retractable side mirrors.
To its rear is a new chrome tailgate garnish, a new short pole antenna, and a new hybrid emblem. Summing up the new exterior appointments is a new two-tone finish.
Inside the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid are new cabin amenities such as the new E-mirror touchscreen, new cruise control, new interior color, new black wood pattern ornament instrument panel, and new gear shift indicator.
In terms of safety, the Indonesian-market Suzuki XL7 Hybrid gets a new hill hold control feature.
Per Suzuki Indonesia, the XL7 Hybrid comes in four variants and is priced from Indonesian Rupiah (Rp) 283.9 million (around P1.053 million) to Rp 304.9 million (approximately P1.131 million).
“The world is full of excitement, and with you behind the wheel of the XL7, you can explore it in style. In the city and on the open road, this is a car that makes your driving experience unique. For people who want the New XL7 Hybrid, there’s no need to worry because this new unit is available at official Suzuki Indonesia dealers… The existence of services and the fast availability of units like this, is one of Suzuki’s commitments in providing satisfaction for Suzuki's loyal customers. Suzuki also hopes that with the New XL7 Hybrid, it can meet consumer needs for an SUV that is safe for families and the environment,” Matsushita added.
With the arrival of another hybrid model, it is possible that Suzuki Philippines will bring the XL7 Hybrid to the country like the Ertiga Hybrid, which was first teased at the eighth Philippine International Motor Show last year.
Nevertheless, Suzuki Philippines has yet to release an official statement if it will actually bring the XL7 Hybrid to the country.
