Suzuki PH expands roster further with 800cc-powered motorcycles

Following the assumption earlier, Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) has officially its latest offerings to the local market as it introduced motorcycles powered by newly-developed engines.

The Japanese marque’s local motorcycle arm launched the V-Strom 800 DE and the GSX-8S that similarly fitted with Suzuki’s new parallel twin double overhead cam mill.

Both motorcycles—revealed at the unveiled at last year’s Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori (EICMA) — enjoy a lightweight and compact engine design by adopting the Suzuki Cross Balancer mechanism.

As SPH explained, the mill has a new biaxial primary balancer (first on a production motorcycle) that places its two balancers at 90 degrees to the crankshaft.

V-Strom 800 DE

Joining the “Master of Adventure” lineage, the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE joins the likes of the 1050 DE, 650 XT and 250 SX — all set to provide an enjoyable and comfortable riding experience.

Notable features in the new Suzuki V-Strom 800DE are the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) electronic control system (for various riding conditions is adopted with the G [gravel> mode in the traction control system), and cancellable anti-lock braking system for the rear brake, adjustable front and rear suspensions, and 21-inch front wheels and semi-block pattern tires.

Retailed in three colors namely Champion Yellow, Glass Matte Metallic Gray and Glass Sparkle Black, the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is priced at P699,000.

GSX-8S

Meanwhile, the GSX-8S — a member of the brand’s street sport motorcycles that include the GSX-S750 and GSX-S1000 — provides power, handling, and comfort that gives its rider full control.

The aforementioned motorcycle also features SIRS that assists in optimizing performance characteristics to match its rider’s preferences.

In addition, the vehicle’s slim chassis ideally holds the new engine design. The chassis layout’s core structure starts with a strong and highly rigid frame designed for the GSX-8S. Its exposed seat rails provide support with lightweight aluminum swing arm, designed exclusively for the model optimized to perform on the street with low seat height suitable for most riders.

Further, the naked street fighter sports tight, clean lines on its face and tail sections, a beefy body and a short muffler that conveys a very aggressive look.

Available in Pearl Cosmic Blue, Pearl Tech White and Metallic Matte Black body color options, the Suzuki GSX-8S has a suggested retail price of P585,000.
