Suzuki PH Finally Launches All-New Suzuki Dzire, Suzuki Swift

Suzuki Philippines (SPH) has closed the first half of 2018 with the simultaneous launch of the all-new Suzuki Dzire and the all-new Suzuki Swift. The all-new Suzuki Dzire

SPH is targeting the Dzire for the "wise and practical millenials and young prfessionals," with its sedan platform in a compact body plus its advanced features, chief of which is its Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology. AGS is an automated manual transmission featuring an Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that automatically operates the clutch and shifting transmission, allowing for smooth automated gear changes, or shifting from manual without having to step on the clutch pedal and operate a shift lever, "ensuring precise gear shifting based on vehicle speed." According to SPH, AGS combines the fuel efficiency of a manual transmission and the convenience of an automatic. The all-new Dzire is lower and wider that the previous model, giving it a better, more flattering silhouette. And with a voluminous 378 liters of trunk space--73 liters more than its predecessor--this subcompact sedan has enough space for luggage for a business trip or a quick getaway.

The all-new Suzuki Swift

The Swift, meanwhile, departs from the look shared by the two previous generations while retaining its classic design features like the strong shoulders, blacked-out A-pillars, and vertically-arranged lamps. The all-new Swift is also shorter, lower, and wider than the outgoing model, giving it a more muscular stance but with compact dimensions that don't compromise on comfort. With 265 liters of cargo space--54 liters more than its predecessor--the Swift's exterior styling wasn't sacrificed despite its expanded storage capacity. Instead of the Dzire's AGS, the Swift gets a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which allows for smoother driving by eliminating shift shock for better acceleration at low speeds and improved fuel economy at high speeds.

All-new platform and proven powertrain

The all-new Dzire is imported from India while the all-new Swift is shipped from Thailand yet despite the distance and different source of origin, both vehicles makes use of Suzuki's new-generation HEARTECT platform which makes use of a highly rigid yet light body to help improve vehicle performance. In addition, the platform is designed to feature Suzuki's Total Effective Control Technology which absorb impact and mitigate injury in case of pedestrian accidents. "We introduced a new-generation platform and engineered a completely new chassis, body structure, and powertrain," said Masao Kobori, the chief engineer of both the all-new Dzire and all-new Swift. "We set out to create a car that would let people experience a new level of excitement like never before, the instant they see it, the instant they get inside, and the instant they step on the accelerator." Powering both the all-new Dizre and all-new Swift is the same 1.2-liter inline-four K12M engine that has an output of 82 hp and 113 Nm of torque.

Variants and prices

The all-new Dzire comes in two variants. The GL MT is priced at PHP638,000 and is available in Premium Arctic White, Metallic Silky Silver, and Premium Midnight Black, while the GL+ AGS is at PHP698,000 and comes in Premium Oxford Blue, Premium Sherwood Brown, Premium Arctic White, Premium Midnight Black, and Metallic Magma Gray. The all-new Swift, on the other hand, has three variants: the GL MT at PHP755,000, the GL CVT at PHP799,000, and the GLX CVT at PHP899,000. All three variants are available in either Speedy Blue Metallic, Fervent Red, Pure White Pearl, Premium Silver Metallic, Mineral Gray Metallic, and Super Black Pearl.
