Suzuki Philippines has opened the year by launching the latest-generation of its well-appreciated MPV, the Suzuki Ertiga.
The all-new Ertiga boasts improvements that is set to make their best-selling unit to be loved more than ever. For starters, the all-new Ertiga has been fitted with a slightly higher-displacement powertrain, which is a 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine able to provide 103 horses and 138 Nm torque.
Satoshi Kasahara, chief engineer of the all-new Ertiga, said that the overall look and feel features a strong yet elegant look.
According to him, the design concept was built to give the all-new Ertiga a stronger personality.
"We made sure to give it a more attractive styling with a stronger personality and a more comfortable cabin. It is designed to bring the owner a sense of pride, with elegance that is highly functional and sure to bring smiles to every family member," he said.
The front fascia sports a new design, giving sleek contours, with its taller nose, but giving it a fiercer look with its brick-wall design on the grille.
The interiors have been designed with a certain level of sophistication. The new steering wheel has a flat bottom, which give it a sporty feel and gives drivers better leg clearance, while the metallic chrome on the gauges, light fabric/wooden panels give it the dash of elegance that could make one forget he or she is in a seven-seater MPV.
The all-new Ertiga has a light yet highly-rigid body, thanks to Suzuki's new-generation Heartect platform. The new frame, which it shares with the Swift and Dzire, was designed to disperse impact energy to improve safety while reducing noise and vibration.
The Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) found in the all-new Ertiga scatters collision energy across the vehicle frame to mitigate damage to the car and passengers.
"With the increasingly diversified demands of the local auto industry and needs of end-users, we cannot be complacent when we've done well and stop innovating. We want to make sure that our customers get more than they deserve, which is why we decided to further improve the best-selling Ertiga. With its new features and enhanced functions, the upgraded MPV will definitely enable more Filipinos to live the Suzuki Way of Life! and drive SPH forward," said SPH Director and Automobile Division General Manager Keiichi Suzuki.
The all-new Ertiga has been stretched to provide a larger passenger legroom with the increased tandem distance of the third-row seats.
"All the upgrades on the new Ertiga are designed to give Filipino riders the confidence to enjoy every adventure knowing they and their family are safe and comfortable. Beyond making technological improvements on our vehicles, our goal is to always ensure that our customers have an optimum driving experience," added Suzuki.
For his part, Kasahara said that the Philippines is one of the most-important markets for the new Ertiga as it is one of the markets with the biggest Ertiga sales contribution.
"We received a lot of insights and inspiration from customers and Ertiga enthusiasts here, and we considered all these in developing the upgrades of the model. We are confident that the new Ertiga meets the Filipinos' requirements," Kasahara shared.
