Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) has showcased its lineup of commercial vehicles at the recently held 2024 Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show (PCVS).
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How many vehicles did Suzuki showcase at the 2024 PCVS?
Suzuki showcased four LCVs at the recently concluded 2024 PCVS.Which of the displayed vehicles are not for sale?
Among the four displayed models, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid GA taxi concept is the one not for sale.Per the local arm of the Japanese car brand, it innovatively displayed some of its nameplates like the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the Carry utility van as well as its Class 1 public utility vehicle (PUV) counterpart, and the APV.
“Each of these vehicles exemplifies Suzuki’s commitment to delivering efficiency, reliability, and functionality, making them ideal choices for commercial use in the dynamic and demanding Philippine market,” SPI wrote in a press release.
Hybrid taxi concept
Suzuki modified its Ertiga Hybrid GA and made it into a five-seater taxi.
The said concept model — SPI pointed out — maintains the same specifications as the standard GA MPV, but is uniquely configured to accommodate five passengers. As a result, it ensures ample space and comfort for both driver and passengers with expanded luggage capacity.
SPI’s Ertiga Hybrid GA taxi concept features a hybrid powertrain that combines a fuel-efficient gasoline engine with an electric motor for enhanced fuel economy and reduced emissions.
Per SPI, this makes it an ideal choice for taxi operators seeking to minimize operating costs while contributing to environmental sustainability.
For reference, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid packs a 1.5-liter gasoline mill that dishes out some 103 horsepower (hp) with 138 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. It also has an EASS (engine auto-stop-start) system, which helps keep daily operational costs down.
To note, the said iteration of the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is only a concept exclusively displayed at the event and is not for sale.
Versatile MPV
For those looking for a versatile MPV, SPI has brought out the aptly named Suzuki APV (all-purpose vehicle) GA.
It offers expanded luggage capacity and multiple storage options, making it ideal for transporting goods, equipment, or supplies. It also has a roomy cabin that can be reconfigured with foldable seats to accommodate either passengers or additional cargo space as needed. This adaptability — the carmaker noted — is particularly beneficial for delivery services, shuttle operations, and small-scale logistics.
The cabin of the Suzuki APV GA has a 1DIN audio unit with AUX and USB connectivity, ensuring that drivers and passengers can stay connected and entertained during long hours on the road.
It also comes with front dual airbags for added safety.
Power for the Suzuki APV GA comes from a 1.6-liter gasoline powerplant that delivers approximately 91 horses with a maximum pulling power of 127 Nm. The setup is connected to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Cost-effective workhorse
SPI touts the Suzuki Carry as a cost-effective workhorse. After all, it is fitted with a fuel-efficient 1.5-liter gasoline engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The said setup makes some 95 hp with 135 Nm.
During the 2024 PCVS, two versions of the Suzuki Carry light commercial vehicle (LCV) were showcased: a utility van and a PUV Class 1 model.
The former has 50/50 split-folding rear seats on both sides for flexibility when more cargo space is needed. It also comes with a step board on the rear for easier ingress and egress for passengers. Moreover, the Suzuki Carry utility van has a 70/30 split back door with a heavy-duty lock.
Its combination of strong performance, reliability, and versatile loading capacity makes it an excellent choice for various commercial applications: from delivery and logistics to passenger transport.
On the other hand, the Suzuki Carry PUV Class 1 model has been modified to cater to nine passengers and a driver.
Unlike the aforementioned Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid GA taxi concept, the Carry PUV Class 1 model will soon be available among the standard variants of the LCV.
