An executive at Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH) said that the hybrid version of the Ertiga multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) will fully replace the purely gas-propelled version in its local roster.
SPH Senior Marketing Manager Odessa Gan shared the information to Carmudi Philippines following its official unveiling early this week.
“We will not sell it in parallel with the non-hybrid version,” Gan said in an interview, pertaining to the recently-introduced model.
As announced during the program, the seven-seater MPV’s mild hybrid version comes in four variations that are either in five manual to four-speed automatic transmission — one variant more compared to the outgoing version as there is no GLX variant before.
All of the variants are powered by a 1.5-liter K15B engine that comes with a system called Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS), a lithium-ion battery pack, and an engine auto stop start system. The aforementioned power mill allows the model to do a 12.54 kilometers per liter fuel consumption on city driving — nearly eight-percent higher than the regular version (based on the test conducted with the Automobile Association of the Philippines).
In addition, the pricing of the new Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid starts from P954,000 up to P1.153 million, making it the most affordable hybrid vehicle in the Philippine market. The difference in the sticker price between the new Ertiga Hybrid and the replaced regular version is only around P100,0000.
Moreover, customers can have the new Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid in the following body colors: Snow White Pearl, Silky Silver Metallic, and Cool Black Pearl for the entry-level as well as additional colors of Metallic Magma Gray, Burgundy Red Pearl and Brave Khaki Pearl for the mid to the top-tiered trims.
