Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH) has announced that a "special model" will be displayed at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) and it will likely be the hybrid version of the Ertiga.
Such speculation came after the Japanese automaker’s local arm said in a statement that it will highlight a model that will “showcase the brand’s latest technology.”
The aforementioned is likely related to the tip shared to Carmudi Philippines last May after a highly-reliable source said that the seven-seater model’s hybrid option will likely arrive "within the year or by first quarter of 2023."
The portion of the headlight in the teaser photo that SPH gave looked very similar to the acquired photo from the Maruti Suzuki website.
If true, then the Philippine market can enjoy the new Suzuki Smart Hybrid System (which is the combination of the K15B engine with integrated starter generator and lithium-ion battery). The seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle will also wear the brand’s famous Heartect platform.
In India, the vehicle’s powertrain is matched to a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
Apart from the special model, SPH will also display its all-new Celerio, Dzire, XL7, S-Presso Special Edition and Jimny, which are all ready for test drives.
SPH theme for the event is called “The Next Generation of Mobility.”
“Suzuki is happy with the recovery of the automobile industry despite the numerous challenges posed by the pandemic,” SPH Automobile General Manager Norihide Takei was quoted as saying.
“We look forward to partaking in this initiative by CAMPI that will be beneficial for the automotive industry, and continue to contribute to the next generation of mobility, where mobility meets humanity,” he added.
Further, exclusive promos and branded merchandise items will be made available exclusively at the event, as well as a slew of hosted and self-facilitated games guests can enjoy.
Moreover, special guests and personalities are set to make appearances during Suzuki’s scheduled 30-minute shows as well, happening tomorrow noontime and 4 p.m. on September 17 and 18.
