Suzuki Philippines, Inc. is launching the
all-new Suzuki Ertiga compact MPV today. But even before it's launched tonight, we asked around our contacts in local dealerships if they have the prices for it already. Always eager to break a story, they've shared every bit of information they have, down to the
required 20-percent down payment for each of the
four variants and the powertrain we'll be receiving.
Like the outgoing model, the all-new Ertiga will be offered in the same four variants: the
entry-level GA,
two GL variants with either a more affordable
five-speed manual transmission-equipped model or a
four-speed automatic, and the
range-topping GLX with the same four-speed slushbox.
As for the powertrain, it'll now be a
slightly bigger K15B 1.5-liter engine that also offers slightly more power over the outgoing model's 1.4-liter mill at
103 hp and 138 Nm of torque as opposed to the K14B's 95 hp and 130 Nm output.
The all-new Ertiga also promises
more cargo-carrying capacity at
803 liters (550 liters with the third-row seats folded down and 153 liters with the seats up) over the outgoing Ertiga's 736 liters (482 and 135 liters, respectively).
Since the all-new Ertiga makes use of the
same Heartect platform as the Suzuki Swift, it has a highly-rigid frame that also happens to be lighter than the previous generation, giving the all-new MPV a
maximum gross vehicle weight of 1,710 kg--
60-kg lighter than the outgoing model.
All these superlatives though come at a higher price--literally.
- Ertiga GA MT – PHP728,000 (previously PHP699,000)
- Ertiga GL MT – PHP848,000 (PHP825,000)
- Ertiga GL AT – PHP888,000 (PHP865,000)
- Ertiga GLX AT – PHP978,000 (PHP965,000)
As for the aforementioned required all-in down payment for each of the four variants, it's
PHP58,000,
PHP68,000,
PHP78,000, and
PHP88,000, respectively.
So, with all the new changes going for it, is the all-new Suzuki Ertiga worth it? Check out the photo gallery and the video below while you mull the question over.
