Suzuki Motor Corporation has recently unveiled an anniversary-edition Hayabusa to celebrate the nameplate’s silver anniversary.
Without sharing specific details on pertaining to the distribution of units, the Japanese motorcycle marque’s 25th-Anniversary Edition Hayabusa will be sold around the world starting this month.
Per Suzuki, the flagship motorcycle’s 25th-anniversary edition sports an orange and black-based body, and special colors for the drive chain adjuster and front inner brake disk.
In addition, the company added original engravings to the muffler body and drive chain, and a 25th-anniversary emblem and a three-dimensional Suzuki logo on the tank. The single-seat cowl is standard equipment (excluding Japan spec).
“The Hayabusa series has been a flagship model representing Suzuki and has fans all over the world. We would like to express our deepest gratitude that this model is able to celebrate its 25th anniversary, and that it has been continuously loved by everyone for this long,” Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzuki said.
The executive expressed firm belief that the current third generation Hayabusa is the brand’s best model to date, noting that he has tested the current vehicle’s prototype. “The Hayabusa will never stop its evolution.”
In 1998, the vehicle’s first-generation — dubbed the “Hayabusa (GSX1300R)" was first introduced in Germany. Its sales commenced in Europe and North America the following year. Its “Ultimate 1Sport” product concept revolved around its high power and handling performance, as well as its unique and aerodynamic styling.
Meanwhile, the Hayabusa’s second-generation came out in 2007 with its engine displacement increased from 1,299 cubic centimeters (cc) to 1,340cc. The said version received the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), which allowed adjusting of the output characteristics by riders’ choice.
In 2021, Suzuki unveiled the third-generation Hayabusa — with a fully improved engine and chassis, and various electronic controls. Boasting its “The Refined Beast” styling design concept, the current version’s engine and chassis parts have been fully reassessed, along with adopting the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) electronic control program that covers traction control systems and bi-directional quick shift systems.
Currently, the Hayabusa nameplate is available in 48 countries worldwide, including the United States, Europe, India, and Latin America, with cumulative series production of more than 200,000 units.
