Suzuki’s Indian arm, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has launched the refreshed version of the Celerio subcompact hatch.
The Suzuki Celerio has been a key model for Suzuki since it was launched in the Indian market in 2014. Customers have loved the Celerio for its compact design yet spacious interior and luggage space.
Suzuki says that the updated model will still bring these features, but with a new stylish design, a new engine, and a new platform, resulting in a lighter weight and improved fuel economy.
Outside, the new Suzuki Celerio sports a sharper-looking set of headlights and an aggressive front grille. The side profile is complemented by flowing lines that give the redesigned subcompact car a new dynamic shape.
Inside, Suzuki says that it gets improved legroom, thanks to the new layout of the Suzuki Celerio’s seats. In addition, the all-new Celerio gets a seven-inch touch panel display audio with smartphone connectivity.
Under the hood is the thermal efficient Dualjet engine mounted to the lightweight but highly rigid Suzuki HEARTECT platform. According to Suzuki, the 1.0-liter gas-powered mill will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Indian-spec Celerio will also have the Auto Gear Shift (AGS), an MT-based automated transmission that does not require a clutch operation, as an available option.
The all-new Celerio will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar Plant in India.
Suzuki Philippines is yet to confirm if the updated Celerio will ever reach local shores. Currently, Suzuki’s compact car offerings include the S-Presso, Swift, Dzire, and the Celerio.
