Suzuki Philippines just introduced the automatic variant of the Suzuki S-Presso. Its arrival meant that many Filipino car buyers now get the option of owning an easy-to-drive hatchback with an affordable price tag.
Wondering if the Suzuki S-Presso AGS is indeed the right automobile for you? Check out its pros and cons before you splash the cash.
If you’re considering buying the Suzuki S-Presso AGS, chances are you’re on a limited budget — and that’s alright.
Those eyeing the new variant of the mini hatch will be happy to know that it can help them save money thanks to its fuel-efficient setup.
Under the hood of the Suzuki S-Presso AGS is a 1.0-liter Dualjet engine mated to the brand’s Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission system. It features an Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that automatically operates the shift and clutch combining the ease of use akin to automatic transmission systems and the fuel efficiency of manual gearboxes.
Now, Suzuki has not yet revealed the fuel-efficiency rating of the S-Presso AGS. However, the five-speed manual models reportedly clocks in at 13.5 to 16 kilometers per liter.
While we treat our cars to the occasional detailing sessions, more often than not, it is we car owners who clean and maintain our vehicles.
On that note, making sure that the Suzuki S-Presso AGS always looks good is going to be a treat for car owners who are fond of giving their rides some TLC.
The exterior of the Suzuki S-Presso AGS is designed simple and straightforward enough that even first-time car owners will find it easy to reach its nook and crannies. Likewise, the interior of the automobile comes with plenty of fabric and hard plastics that are easy to clean.
Inside the Suzuki S-Presso are decent car amenities that one will be hard-pressed to find in cars of the same price point.
One good example is its new-generation infotainment system that now comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Further, the Suzuki S-Presso AGS comes with a multi-functional steering wheel, a digital meter cluster, and an overhead microphone so you can make calls without removing your hand from the steering wheel.
The Suzuki S-Presso AGS is a small hatchback that could be best suited for owners who like to be driven, not those who like to drive.
That’s because the convenience of the AGS transmission system makes it easy to sit behind the wheel whether you’re out for a short or a long trip.
And while this might sound subjective, those who are used to driving stick might say that it takes out one’s connection with the machine.
Lack of toys
Granted that the Suzuki S-Presso AGS is an economy car, it’s not surprising to see that it offers the bare minimum in terms of features.
Despite its many cup holders, you won’t find fancy pockets and armrests inside this car. And while it comes with decent air conditioning, it lacks dedicated vents for the second-row passenger, which could make riding inside the Suzuki S-Presso AGS a struggle during scorching hot weather.
Most notably, the Suzuki S-Presso AGS still does not have power windows at the rear.
