Suzuki to open new factory in India

The new factory is expected to produce some one million units per year.Per Suzuki, its subsidiary in India Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reached an understanding with the State of Gujarat for the construction of a new car factory in the area.
The new production plant, Suzuki pointed out, is expected to commence operation in 2028. Approximately one million units per year are expected to be built in the new facility.
Suzuki also revealed that it will add a fourth production line to the factory run by Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited — in view of increasing production of electric vehicles in the future.
The fourth line, on the other hand, is expected to start operation in 2026.
After the fourth line is completed, Suzuki Motor Gujarat can increase its annual capacity to one million units, from just making 750,000 units per year.
Combined with the new plant in Gujarat, the total production capacity of Suzuki in the State of Gujarat will be two million units.
The brand is looking to produce around four million cars a year in India by 2030. This is to prepare for the future expansion of the automobile market in the country.
“In this ever-growing country, we will provide a variety of sustainable mobility options by focusing on Indian customers,” stated Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzuki.
