The upcoming five-door Suzuki Jimny will be launched on January 25.
Per the local arm of the Japanese carmaker, the formal introduction of the nameplate’s five-door variant will be a “ground-breaking celebration of innovation and excellence.”
To recall a previous report, a source told Carmudi Philippines that the five-door Suzuki Jimny will be powered by the brand’s K15B 1.5-liter engine — the same mill in the model's three-door option.
The five-door Suzuki Jimny, despite looking nearly identical to the three-door model, will get a grille with chrome accents and power folding side mirrors.
In addition, the five-door Suzuki Jimny will be longer than its three-door sibling (with a longer wheelbase), but will retain the same width and height overall. On that note, we can expect that increased size of the soon-to-be-launched sport utility vehicle will have a slightly different approach, breakover, and departure angles.
Further, the beefier body of the five-door Suzuki Jimny could also contribute to it having a wider turning radius.
On the invite sent to Carmudi Philippines, the five-door Suzuki Jimny gets a new red paint. A new blue hue could also be expected to join the colorful palette of Suzuki’s go-anywhere vehicle.
Inside, the five-door Suzuki Jimny will have seating for four and provide its occupants better legroom as well as a more spacious luggage area — said to be 40 percent bigger than the three-door Jimny model.
Depending on the trim level, its would-be owners can get either a seven-inch or a nine-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth features.
It will be offered in three variants and will most-likely be priced from P1.558 million to P1.708 million.
