Some of the unique features of the new V-Strom 800 include 19-inch cast aluminum wheels.IN what markets will Suzuki initially sell the new V-Strom 800?
According to Suzuki, the new V-Strom 800 will primarily be sold Europe and in North America.According to the Japanese motorcycle company, the new Suzuki V-Strom 800 “was developed for high comfortability and driving performance on paved roads and long-distance touring.”
Compared to the locally-available Suzuki V-Strom 800DE — which is equipped with more rugged and off-road-specific features — the new V-Strom 800 is slapped with appointments that are better suited for urban riding.
To begin with, the new Suzuki V-Strom 800 is fitted with 19-inch cast aluminum wheels compared to the 21-inch wire-spoked rimset worn by the DE model. It also sports radial-mount brake calipers on the front brake as well as tubeless tires (both front and rear) to best suit paved road riding conditions.
Suzuki also packed the new V-Strom 800 with the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS). SIRS allows riders to access the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, which offers three modes with varying power output characteristics.
Also featured in the Suzuki V-Strom 800 SIRS technology are various systems such as traction control with three modes, a bi-directional quick shift system, the Suzuki Easy Start System, low revolutions-per-minute assist, and an anti-lock braking system with two selectable modes.
Beating in between the thighs of the rider is a liquid-cooled, parallel two-cylinder, 779 cubic centimeter engine. It is mated to a six-speed constant mesh transmission with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System, which helps reduce fatigue on long rides and contributes to smoother shifting.
Power figures were not discussed but it is possible that it can put out as much as 83 horses with 78Newton-meters of torque, just like its off-road-oriented brother.
Since the new Suzuki V-Strom 800 is touted as a long-distance city motorbike, it also packs modern rider amenities like a five-inch thin-film transistor instrument cluster, a USB Type-A port, and an ergonomic handlebar.
Per Suzuki, sales of the new V-Strom 800 will commence this month. It will primarily be offered in Europe (priced at approximately P674,873) and North America (priced at around P596,904 excluding destination and freight charges).
We are still to receive word from Suzuki Philippines about its arrival in the country.
