The Ford Territory is a Chinese car that has, well, marked its territory in the Philippines.
The Blue Oval crossover was made in partnership with China’s Jiangling Motors Corporation Limited (JMC), and uses the platform of JMC's Yusheng S330.
Powering the strong-selling Territory is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, which packs 141hp and 225Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT transmission.
Another feature that the two Territory trims share is a panoramic moonroof, which adds light and airiness to the cabin of the Territory Trend (P1.277 million) and Titanium (P1.310 million).
Meanwhile, infotainment is provided by a 10-inch touchscreen with multi-view function and mirroring for Android and Apple phones, which can be charged wirelessly in the Titanium.
The display can also be used to adjust the air-conditioner and access the 360-degree camera view.
The instrument cluster also takes digital forms and different sizes, depending on the variant. The Trend uses a 3.5-inch LCD display, while the Titanium features a 10-inch fully digital display with three selectable themes.
Leather wraps the two rows of seats in the Territory. The Trend's driver's perch can be adjusted manually, the Titanium electronically. Another nifty feature is the heat and cooling functions in the top-spec's front seats.
Speaking of cooling, the aircon will not only keep the cabin cool, but clean, too, with its built-in ionizer and CN95 cabin air filter. Those filtering systems, standard on both cars, can make one feel reassured in these health-conscious times.
To get the Territory moving, both Trend and Titanium varieties use push button start, as well as electronic parking brakes.
Once the car is moving, the speed-sensing door locks on both cars will do their jobs, while the total of six airbags at the front and sides of the cabin, add a layer of safety. The driver will also be informed of the tire pressure of each wheel.
With the ambient lighting, gloss black and faux wood appliques, the Territory's occupants may get to pretend that they're lounging in a club.
