The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) has formally unveiled the all-new Chevrolet Tracker, to join the Golden Bowtie’s lineup in the country.
During the presentation, Chevrolet Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Albert Arcilla expressed elation over the introduction of the global model as it allows the company to more confidently in the local crossover segment.
“We are excited to introduce the all-new Chevrolet Tracker to the Philippine market. This highly acclaimed crossover is a welcome addition to our refreshed model portfolio. The Tracker continues Chevrolet’s tradition of producing highly-capable crossovers and highlights the brand’s unrelenting focus on growing market segments by offering stylishly designed vehicles loaded with customer-centric technology,” Arcilla was quoted as saying.
“The Tracker will appeal to Filipino customers who want more from their crossover SUV. Available in two feature-packed variants, the Tracker offers fuel efficiency, safety, comfort, convenience, and connectivity packaged in a practical and capable SUV,” he added.
A product of the SAIC-General Motors (GM) partnership, the China-bred model from the American carmaker is said to be doing well in Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, “and is making waves in China, one of the biggest markets for Chevrolet.”
According to GM Strategic Markets Alliances and Distributors President and Managing Director Christian Soemmer, the introduction of the Chevrolet Tracker to the Philippines “represents a new chapter in the successful and ever-evolving Chevrolet crossover and SUV story” that started in 1935 with the Chevrolet Suburban Carryall.
“And the Tracker with its attractive design and state of the art technical features is the living proof of our 85 years of crossover and SUV expertise.”
As mentioned in our earlier article, the Tracker will come in two variants: – the base Tracker LS priced at ₱1,142,888 and the LT Redline Edition for ₱1,242,888. For the introductory offer that we mentioned in an earlier article, TCCCI is extending ₱30,000 discount for the Tracker — regardless of mode of purchase — until September 30 this year.
On its exterior, the all-new Tracker sports a youthful look, complemented by the squared off LED daytime running lights in the front. The Redline Edition sports strong black and red accents on the front double grille and the horizontal red trim and a black bowtie emblem, black heated side mirrors with L-shaped red trim, and its 17-inch black alloy rims with red accents.
Inside, the Redline Edition sports an all-black dual cockpit and jet-black seats with red double stitching while the other variant sports a two-toned jet black and captain blue interior. Coming as exclusive to Redline variant is the sliding panoramic sunroof.
The Chevrolet Tracker wears numerous features such as modern keyless ignition, automatic climate control, flat-bottom, leather-wrapped, Bosch Electric Power Steering wheel with audio controls and the eight-inch colored touchscreen that features has the latest-generation Chevrolet MyLink Infotainment System.
The said entertainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and has Bluetooth connectivity, four USB ports, and a SD card reader slot.
As mentioned in our earlier article, the latest models are both powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder DOHC Ecotec Turbo engine, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. It yields 116hp and 175Nm torque.
Further, the Tracker has an Active Thermal Management System with Electric Water Pump, Exhaust Gas Recirculation, and Variable Displacement Oil Pump, which “make use of otherwise wasted energy to optimize engine performance and maintain engine temperature, while expending lower battery power and fuel consumption.” “The Water-Cooled Turbo Intercooler helps improve mechanical durability and lengthens the turbocharger’s life,” the company noted.
Coming as standard is the discretionary engine start/stop function that automatically shuts down the engine when the vehicle is running at low speed or is stationary.
For safety features, Tracker is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Emergency Brake Warning, Rollover Mitigation, Enhanced Understeer Control, Mini Spare Detection, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Traction Control System (TCS), Engine Drag Control (EDC), Panic Brake Assist (PBA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Low Vacuum Brake Assist (LVBA), No Vacuum Brake Assist (NVBA), Fading Brake Assist (FBA), Torque Vectoring Brakes (TVBB), Engine Immobilizer, Anti-theft Alert System, Express-Up Window with Anti-Pinch function, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), driver, front passenger, and side airbags, ISOFIX system, electric heated side mirrors, and reverse camera with a wide 130-degree viewing angle.
The all-new Chevrolet Tracker is available in five hues namely Agate Red Metallic, Satin Steel Gray Metallic, Black Meet Kettle Metallic, Summit White, and Pow Zinga Metallic, a color exclusive to the LS variant.
