Like a Marvel movie, there's a lot of buzz surrounding the 11th-generation Honda Civic. So, the Singaporeans must be ecstatic to learn that the Honda distributor in their country is bringing the venerated nameplate soon.
In the Singapore Honda website (honda.com.sg) is the good news: "All-New Honda Civic. Coming soon." Below that is a form in which interested customers can register their interest towards the 11th-gen Civic.
"When every little detail is designed around your needs, the difference is exhilarating. Stay informed, register your interest today," the website read.
While Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) has yet to reveal the schedule for the 2022 Civic's local arrival, this bit of news may mean it will arrive here soon as well.
Why is this compact sedan much anticipated? Honda said this will be the “best Civic ever” as it will be the “most fun-to-drive and technologically advanced Civic sedan in the model’s nearly 50-year history.”
Its interior seems to be already speaking Honda's interior design language.
Powering the all-new Civic is a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder with 158hp, or a 1.5-liter version with turbocharger and 180hp. A CVT is the only transmission, with paddle shifters for the sportier variants.
That may disappoint enthusiasts, but the good news is the next Type-R for the 11th-gen Civic will come with three pedals, as confirmed by an official from Honda USA. As usual for a Honda, this news has been making rounds online.
In hatchback form only, the current Civic Type-R packs a turbocharged 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine that puts out 316hp and 400 Nm of torque through a short-throw six-speed manual transmission.
It held the record as the fastest production front-wheel-drive car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit with a time of seven minutes, 48.30 seconds.
The current Civic Type-R is also being sold by HCPI at P3.18 million, with cash discounts up to P180,000 with HCPI's "Deals Made Easy" promo.
The 10th-generation Civic, meanwhile, in 1.8 E CVT trim that's priced at P1.188 million, has a P40,000 reduction through the same promo.
Given how sporty the 10th iteration of the Civic is, especially its red-badged sibling, many Honda fans here (and in Singapore) are surely excited for the latest installment of the blockbuster compact sedan.
