The MG ZS is one of the brand’s entries into the local crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment. The nameplate has gained quite the following, not only due to the campaigns initiated by MG (like its partnership with Zalora and its MG ZS gift to 2021 Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez), but mainly because of its ability to provide Filipino car buyers a premium-looking vehicle without the premium price.
That said, the MG ZS is considered by its fans as one of the best bang-for-your-buck crossovers on the market today. If you’re planning to buy one, then let us help you decide what colorway to get. Today, we take a look at the five hues of the MG ZS.
The MG ZS looks like a crossover that’s safe to drive in this white hue. Statistically, white vehicles are less involved in vehicular accidents compared to those with darker hues.
Speaking of which, the MG ZS comes with a host of safety features including front airbags, seatbelts for the front and rear passengers, an antilock braking system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), cornering brake control (CBC), child lock, ISOFIX tethers, an alarm system, and an immobilizer.
Higher variants get added features such as side and curtain airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a reverse camera, and rear parking sensors.
Meteorite Black makes the MG ZS look like a stylish crossover SUV. It brings out the elegance in the MG ZS and accentuates its lines and contours.
It also pairs well with its exterior chrome trims which can be found on the vehicle’s fog lamp molding, side window beltline, and the lower corners of its rear bumper. It also complements the matte silver front skid plate and roof rail.
The same stylish chrome accents can be found on the MG ZS’ interior including the dashboard, door panels, and steering wheel.
And while the MG ZS does not reach Urus-level power outputs, it can look as fast as other luxury SUV, thanks to its Extreme Red Speed paint.
On paper, the MG ZS makes only 112 horsepower (hp) with 150Nm of torque. That said, it’s good enough for city driving but definitely bad if you plan to set a record at the Nürburgring.
Under the hood is a 1.5-liter engine mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic (with manual Tiptronic function).
Despite its averagely peppy engine, the MG ZS is a fun crossover to drive, especially if you get yours in the zesty Electro-Optic Orange paint.
If you opted to get the range-topping variant, your MG ZS will come with three driving modes that could help make your time on the road more exciting.
Supporting the crossover are MacPhersons at the front and a torsion beam setup at the rear. Stopping power comes from a pair of ventilated disc brakes at the front and two drum brakes at the rear.
Lastly, the MG ZS comes in an avant-garde Laser Blue hue. The color befits the crossover and its advanced features that were designed to make your travels more comfortable.
Taking center stage is the MG ZS’ infotainment system. Depending on the variant, you can either get a 6.4-inch or an eight-inch unit. Also included are posh leather seats and a leather steering wheel for the higher grade levels.
The MG ZS is available in the Philippines in four variants: MT Style, AT Style, AT Style Plus, and AT Alpha. Price ranges from P818,000 to P918,000.
