Bentley Motors has announced the introduction of the latest Flying Spur, which is said to be most environmentally friendly model under the luxury automotive marque to date.
The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid is part of the brand’s commitment to its Beyond100 strategy to become an end-to-end carbon-neutral organization and the world’s leading sustainable luxury mobility marque.
“The latest addition to Bentley’s new hybrid range demonstrates that hybridization does not compromise luxury or performance. With an unperceivable blend between the internal combustion engine and electric motor, refined serenity is on offer regardless of driving mode or style,” Bentley noted in its statement.
The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.9-liter V6 engine with an advanced electric motor that can provide a maximum of 536hp and 750Nm torque — higher by 95hp in comparison to the Bentayga Hybrid. The same engine propels the vehicle from zero to 100 kph in 4.3 seconds. Despite the power, the new Flying Spur has the capability to cover more than 700 kilometers when fully fueled with help from its electric motor. The e-motor is fitted with a 14.1kWh lithium ion battery that can be fully charged in as little as two and a half hours.
The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid now includes connected car services such as My Battery Charge, My Car Statistics, and My Cabin Comfort.
Instead of an automatic start/stop switch, the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid installs control its three E Modes: namely EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode. EV Drive mode is engaged as soon as the car is switched on, and maximizes the electric driving experience. This is ideal for city driving and for shorter journeys.
The exterior visual differences for the Flying Spur Hybrid include a "Hybrid" front fender badge, quad oval tailpipes and a covered universal charging point on the left hand rear fender.
All Flying Spurs are manufactured in Crewe, which is said to be the premier carbon neutral factory for luxury car production. Orders can be taken from summer onwards, and first customer deliveries are due before the end of 2021.
