The Hyundai Veloster really puts the "odd" in "oddball.
Hyundai calls it a five-seater hatchback with its rear tailgate and side passenger door on its right side. On the Veloster's left side, it becomes a pretend "coupe," as it only has the driver's door there to create an illusion of a two-seater.
With such a funky design, it's apt that Hyundai gave its hatch-coupe-hybrid a palette of vivid colors. For its price of P1.798 million, perhaps no other car in that price range can match the Veloster's choice of colors. Most consumers lean toward more conservative hues, after all.
But for those who dare to differ, what are the Veloster's colors?
It's hard not to notice a bright red car. Red can radiate an energetic and confident appearance, that's why Ferraris have always been finished in that hue since day one.
Those who drive red cars, on the other hand, could also be said as having a desire to be perceived as upbeat. So this red Veloster will certainly fit the bill.
Although yellow is an upbeat hue, it's a bit more mellow than red. Yellow is said to be happy color, and can show that the owner of a yellow Veloster has a great sense of humor.
But of course, choosing a Veloster already shows that one has a taste for the good kind of weird.
Adventurous, creative, and playful are some of the adjectives that are used to describe the color orange. Drivers of cars with this color reflect those qualities, too.
Just like in the abovementioned colors, orange highlights the Veloster's headlights, grille, and blacked-out roof.
While blue represents calm and serene energy and low-key confidence, this Veloster color is a bit close to something more exciting.
The light blue hue could remind some of the Veloster's hotter version, the Veloster N. That car churns out 275hp from its turbo two-liter, which is mated to a manual or dual clutch transmission.
With that kind of power, along with its suspension upgrades, the Veloster N is regarded as Hyundai's first hot hatch entry.
The Veloster available locally is also powered by an equally fizzy mill. Its 1.6-liter turbo generates 201hp and 265Nm of torque, managed by a seven-speed dual-clutch that drives the front wheels.
Inside, the car wears red trim on its leather seats and steering wheel to further enhance its sporty intent.
