The KTM RC 8C is simply fast, and sold out just as quickly
It only took a mere four minutes and 32 seconds for all 100 KTM RC 8C track bikes to sell out via KTM’s digital sales platform.
Twenty-five of those buyers even opted to take delivery of their machines at an equally exclusive handover event at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain.
The KTM RC 8C is a supersport bike that drew inspiration directly from KTM’s track racing efforts, "in a bid to offer exclusive Grand Prix-type performance in a user-friendly package."
Co-engineered in close partnership with Krämer Motorcycles, the RC 8C is built using high-end, high-performance racing components, but makes use of an 889cc, LC8c production engine.
The liquid-cooled LC8c makes 128hp and 101Nm of torque, numbers that are managed by a six speed transmission.
Used in the 890 Duke R, the shared motor ensures easier maintenance and parts availability, KTM said.
The fairings on the front of the RC 8C are made from Kevlar-reinforced carbon fiber, which acts as stability winglets and provide downforce at high speeds. There's also a swingarm scoop under the bike for downforce, as well as to provide cooling to the rear tire.
For quicker pit stops, the fairings and carbon fiber scoops allow for quick installation and removal. Those aerodynamic kits are attached to the bike's featherweight glass-reinforced plastic body.
To allow the rider to see his or her lap times, the RC 8C's instrument cluster has a lap-recording feature, which then sends the data to the Aim RaceStudio.
Brembo brakes front and rear, whose discs have a diameter of 290 and 230 millimeters, respectively, are another racing bike-inspired feature.
"The idea was to create a track-based motorcycle capable of churning out the highest levels of performance and handling, without needing overly sophisticated electronics or unobtainable tools in the pits," KTM described the supersport.
All of the aforementioned will be surely loved by the 25 out of 100 customers, who have booked their place at the exclusive RC 8C Track Experience. Taking place in Jerez from October 7 to 9, where they’ll get to ride alongside Red Bull KTM Factory Racing test riders Dani Pedrosa and Mika Kallio.
KTM added that because of the quick sale, its fans missed out, so it created an online waiting list to allow interested buyers the chance to get an RC 8C, should any previous reservation be canceled.
