In September of last year, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) decided to bring the brand’s globally acclaimed plug-in hybrid SUV here.

Mitsubishi looks to use the Outlander PHEV as the brand’s entry to the promising local hybrid and EV segment. With many Filipinos showing interest in eco-friendly alternatives, the Outlander could spearhead the company’s advance into the budding electrified category and give Mitsubishi a strong foothold in the changing automotive industry.

Outside, the Outlander PHEV delivers what one would expect from Europe’s number-one plug-in hybrid crossover SUV. But it’s what’s inside that separates it from the rest.

1. Modern minimalist

Quite obviously, the Outlander PHEV does its best to achieve a modern appearance inside and out. The cabin sports a slew of modern amenities (which we’ll get to in a few), making the Outlander PHEV’s occupants experience Mitsubishi’s take on modern contemporary design.

You get leather front and rear seats, synthetic leather-wrapped head restraints, as well as door trims with synthetic leather inserts. You also get automatic dimming mirrors and dual-zone automatic air-conditioning.

Despite the presence of hard plastic, luxurious accents such as chrome trims can be found on the steering wheel, the dashboard, and on the doors. And on, it also has a faux carbon-fiber center console.

2. Modern amenities

The Outlander also offers modern interior amenities. Included is the eight-inch touchscreen display that delivers audio to the onboard 510-watt power amplifier with four speakers and four titanium tweeters.

Aside from functioning as an audio unit, the infotainment system also gives the driver access to multiple apps like Apple Music, Apple Maps, Messages, and more through the SDA touchscreen and your voice with Siri thanks to its Apple CarPlay functionality. The same goes for Android phones using Andriod Auto.

The steering wheel is also multifunctional with dedicated remote buttons for things like audio, calls, and most importantly, cruise control.

3. It’s got the power

The Outlander PHEV offers two 1,500W power ports inside the cabin. The outlets can be used to power anything from small smartphones to tablets allowing its passengers to juice up their devices when they‘re out and about.

Owners can also use the Outlander as a mobile workstation as it can power compatible laptops allowing them to finish tasks and assignments outside the confines of their offices and homes.
