Suzuki UK has revealed its new GSX-S1000GT sports tourer. To fulfill its long-haul purpose, the GSX-S1000GT features plush seats and optional luggage carrier, cruise control and power modes, and a 999cc inline-four cylinder engine, among others.
Designed to cover distances quickly and comfortably, the tourer's upright riding position is cocooned by wind-deflecting bodywork, and a screen capable of diverting the air flow.
A plush rider’s seat is complemented by a comfortable pillion pad with grab rails, while optional hard luggage can accommodate full-face helmets.
These are underpinned by a "performance-orientated chassis, engineered to be lightweight and agile" and to offer a ride that reduces rider fatigue on longer journeys.
The GSX-S1000GT's ride-by-wire throttle promises to deliver smooth engine response, as well as one of three selectable riding modes to suit the appropriate road conditions or riding styles.
The throttle works with a five-mode traction control system which supports the rider in various riding conditions, from touring in adverse weather or enjoying a sporty ride, or whether riding alone or with a pillion or carrying luggage.
Suzuki explained that higher the mode, the faster the control takes effect and the more proactive the system will be in limiting wheel spin.
Meanwhile, the GSX-S1000GT's cruise control system allows riders to set their speed and close the throttle. Suzuki Low RPM Assist and Easy Start System make starting and pulling away or riding in slow-moving traffic easy, as it automatically raises the rpm at low engine speeds helps avoid stalling.
All information from the electronic systems are displayed via a 6.5-inch color TFT instrument panel. The panel allows for smartphone connectivity along with Suzuki's mySPIN app.
With the mySPIN app on their phone, the rider can access maps for navigation, imported contact lists and hands-free communication, music connectivity, and calendar updates, Suzuki UK said.
The GSX-S1000GT's LED light-adorned exterior can be finished in Metallic Triton Blue, a nod to Suzuki’s MotoGP machines. Other color options are Metallic Reflective Blue and Glass Sparkle Black.
For propulsion, the GSX-S1000GT's 999cc four-cylinder nets 150hp and 106Nm of torque, and is mated to a transmission with a light clutch. Fully adjustable KYB inverted front forks, Dunlop tires and Brembo brakes help put those power outputs to the ground.
