This is the 2020 Honda Civic Type R

We don't need to make any introductions when it comes to the Honda Civic Type R, here. But then again, we need to warn you that its newest, U.S. 2020 model will make fans love it more, thanks to the numerous improvements Honda has done to Civic's upgraded, more testosterone-driven sibling.

Making its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon today, the new 2020 Civic Type R has made some style changes in its exterior and interior. It also has an improved aerodynamic performance, plus the addition of Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive technology.

Performance-wise, the new 2020 Civic Type R has added new, two-piece brake rotors and brake pads that boosts high-speed braking efficiency and lessens fade. The suspension has also been changed for this year, with the front suspension now modified to lessen friction and improve steering feel. It also has sturdier rear bushings for better grip and upgraded dampers for enhanced riding comfort.

The exterior will also get some re-hauling. The newest Honda Civic Type R will now have a new, larger front grille opening for for improved engine cooling, and the 2020 model will be available in a new, Type R-exclusive Boost Blue.

The interiors are a feast for the senses. Drivers can now enjoy a new Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, a new shifter with a restyled knob and shorter shift throws. Its impressive Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies will now become a standard feature on all Civic models and trims. Also new for 2020 is Active Sound Control, which changes interior sound in concert with the chosen drive mode.

The 2020 Civic Type R uses a 2.0-liter direct-injected and turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with VTEC™ valvetrain putting out a peak 306-horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque (both SAE net). It draws power to the front wheels transferred through a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. These modes

Drivers can choose between three driving modes: Comfort, Sport and +R. These modes vary in suspension firmness, steering and throttle response.  What's more, they give drivers a thrilling experience not just on a mountain road or a racetrack, but also on urban roads.

More news about the U.S.-spec 2020 Civic Type R will be available closer to its on-sale date later this year.
