Thousands of riders gathered recently at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Pasay City to celebrate the Suzuki Raider nameplate’s 20th anniversary in the Philippines.
Per WTC’s count, more than 8,000 riders get to enjoy the signature experience that the Suzuki Raider Summit was known for.
The anticipation for the event’s big comeback was observed as despite the weather condition that day, riders from 156 clubs nationwide were present to join the program. Also, riders from Bicol and Pangasinan even went to the venue the day before the scheduled event.
In addition, the event also served as the brand’s grand reunion with its customers after nearly a five-year pause.
Gracing the grand celebration were executives of Suzuki Philippines (SPH) headed by the company’s President Koichiro Hirao; General Manager for Motorcycle Sales and Marketing Jun Bulot; Assistant General Manager for Finance and Administration Division Cathy Magtibay; Assistant to the General Manager Daigo Morikawa; and Marketing Manager Nenuka Guba.
They were joined by Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Chief Engineer for Motorcycles Hideshi Morii; and Group Manager for Motorcycle Design Shinsuke Furuhashi.
The halls of the venue were filled with cheers as the program had numerous activities such as the Raider Roar (club chant) contest, Face of the Summit (beauty contest), Astig Rider (male rider pageant), Lovers of the Summit, and Talentadong Riders.
Also, the day-long program showcased craftsmanship through the Raider Custom-Bike Contest where modified Suzuki Raider units were put on display at the venue.
Further, the SPH shared to the attendees the results of recent fuel economy runs conducted in Luzon and Mindanao wherein the tested motorcycle registered 128.2 and 98.91 kilometer per liter, respectively.
Apart from the programs, riders were also given the chance to test ride the Avenis, Burgman Street, Burgman Street EX, V-Strom 250 SX, Gixxer 250, Gixxer 250SF, Burgman 400 ABS, SV 650/A and the newly-launched GSX-8S and V-Strom 650DE. Free fuel-injection system was also offered to the first 40 attendees of the Summit.
Moreover, SPH and riders renewed their pledge of commitment led by the Suzuki club presidents and SPH Club Relations Lead Sherwin Florendo.
Rounding up the event were acts from Arci Munoz, DJ Tanya Chinita, Tricia Meraki, and Kamikazee. The event was hosted by Mara Aquino and Alamid frontman Carl McFly with Darbz of Real Talk Darbz as the crowd correspondent.
