The 2017 Toyota 86 receives some minor cosmetic changes that make it even ‘racier’ via a limited release. Dubbed the Toyota 86 860 Special Edition, the quirky title stems from the fact that only 860 units of this edition will be manufactured for sale.
The Toyota 86 860 Special Edition arrives in two colors—Supernova Orange and Halo White. Additional exterior cues include twin black racing stripes, black aluminum spoiler, black side mirror housings, and 17-inch gunmetal wheels. Other nifty additions include LED foglights and a more aerodynamic body kit.
Sadly, performance upgrades are non-existent, as the 2.0-liter FA20 Boxer engine remains unaltered in any way.
The 86 860's FA20 engine partners with a six-speed transmission in either manual or automatic configuration. With the former, the car achieves 205 hp and 211 Nm of torque while with the latter, the flat-four engine rates at 200 hp and 205 Nm of torque. Though a tad slower, the automatic makes up for this shortcoming with paddle shifters and rev match technology.
In international markets, the Toyota 86 860 Edition manual goes for a $30,040 (P1.511 million) starting price. The automatic version, on the other hand, costs $30,760 (P1.547 million) starting.
