Toyota announced in a recent press release that it will be working with mobility service provider, Kinto Co., Ltd. to launch a car subscription service featuring the new GR Yaris "Morizo Selection."
According to both companies, the souped-up subcompact car can be upgraded over time through software updates allowing the vehicle to “evolve” with the needs of the customer.
This initiative is a product of the carmaker and the mobility service provider’s mutual desire to swiftly deliver the evolution of cars to their customers after seeing the rapidly advancing technological innovations in the motoring world.
Toyota says that the announcement of the detailed service offerings would be revealed in March of 2022.
As of now, Toyota only mentions that the subscription services would introduce the “latest software in line with technological innovations and the optimization of basic vehicle performance in terms of driving, turning, and stopping.”
In addition, vehicle provisions will come from GR Garage shops at various vehicle sales outlets.
Personalization and customization of the subscription service will include “software customization to suit each individual based on customer driving data to achieve ‘cars that evolve in tune with people’ in the future,” added the automaker.
Toyota plans to pair racing-based updates and personalization with the Kinto service.
Available equipment that can be fitted into the RZ high-performance-based GR Yaris includes a Morizo emblem on the windshield, Rookie Racing-inspired color scheme used in the Yaris’ seat stitching, coil springs, and shock absorbers as well as Rookie Racing logo on the wheels and on the door switch bases.
The GR Yaris is available in three colors: Platinum White Pearl Mica, Emotional Red II, and Precious Black Pearl.
Prices for the monthly subscription of the bedecked Yaris in Japan start from ¥54,340 to ¥81,840 says Toyota.
