The Daihatsu Xenia, whose brother from another mother is the Toyota Avanza, garnered a three-star rating from its recent ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) evaluation.
Per the organization, the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) earned an overall score of 64.50 points.
When broken down, it showed that the Daihatsu Xenia scored 32.6 points in Adult Occupant Protection while it scored 14.37 points for Child Occupant Safety.
For Safety Assist Technology, the Daihatsu Xenia earned 10 points while it scored 7.5 points for Motorcyclist Safety.
According to the ASEAN NCAP, the test dummies seated on the front seat of the tested Daihatsu Xenia showed that they had marginal to adequate protection in the chest area.
In addition, reports from the ASEAN NCAP also say that the legs of the two front occupants were adequately protected.
Under Child Occupant Safety, the tested Daihatsu Xenia proved to offer better protection during the conducted Front Impact tests compared to the Side Impact tests staged by the safety organization.
“The Daihatsu Xenia performed well in the assessment in which the MPV obtained an overall score of 64.50 points. Based on the score, the star rating for Xenia has been limited to a three-star ASEAN CAP rating. This is because the model achieved the maximum rating of three stars for the Motorcyclist Safety category,” the ASEAN NCAP wrote in its report.
