Toyota Gazoo Racing Enters e-Motorsports with GR Supra GT Cup for PS4
Toyota Gazoo Racing is joning the e-motorsports arena with the launch of the GR Supra GT Cup for the PlayStation 4 (PS4).
As part of the Gran Turismo Sport video game, the GR Supra GT Cup is the first global one-make race series. As part of Toyota Gazoo Racing's e-motorsports activities, Toyota's motorsport outfit will also become an official partner of the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championships, an online championship for the Gran Turismo real driving simulator series that is hosted in partnership with the FIA (the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile).
"From this year, by involving e-motorsports as one of the pillars of TGR motorsports activities, we are actively working to make motorsports and sport cars more accessible, and enjoyable across generations and around the world," Toyota Gazoo Racing said in a statement. "Then, we hope to connect various findings obtained through e-motorsports to 'making ever-better cars' in the future."
Detailed information including the circuits to be used in each round will be published on the GR Supra GT Cup section of the Toyota Gazoo Racing website.
The FIA Gran Turismo Championship World Tour 1, the opening event of the Gran Turismo Sport world series, will be held in Paris today, March 16. At the event, Toyota Gazoo Racing will announce the GR Supra GT Cup at a panel session with Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc., the creator of the Gran Turismo series of racing simulation games, and Tetsuya Tada, chief engineer of the GR Supra. It will be broadcast live on Gran Tursimo TV, the official Gran Turismo YouTube channel.
