The Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) 2022 is just a few days away, and Toyota has big plans for the upcoming auto show. According to the Japanese carmaker, the GR GT3 Concept and a fully tuned GR Yaris will be displayed at the TGR booth from January 14 to 16.
Teaser photos of both the GR GT3 Concept and the said souped-up GR Yaris have been revealed with the former — which Toyota says is a racing-dedicated concept car that incorporates the knowledge and refined technologies TGR has gained in the field of motorsports — having a long hood, two doors, and what seems to be a large wing at the rear. The latter, on the other hand, appears to have aerodynamic front skirts, a wide vent at the hood, and a prominent rear spoiler.
Exhibited alongside the Toyota GR GT3 Concept and the fully tuned GR Yaris will be the GR010 Hybrid. The car won all races in 2021, the first year of the Hypercar class of the WEC, and cars from domestic and international competitions such as the Super GT, Japanese Super Formula Championship and Japanese Rally Championship.
In addition to the exhibition cars listed above, some parts from the 2022 lineup of GR Heritage Parts for customers who truly love their vehicles will also be exhibited.
TGR strives to “offer ever-better motorsports-bred cars,” and is participating in top categories such as the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) along with domestic rallies and races. The technology and knowledge gained through these activities are used in the creation of new road cars.
Toyota ensures that the TGR booth will be operated with the utmost care to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
