After being postponed last month due to government restrictions following the surge of COVID-19 cases, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has announced that its Gazoo Racing Vios Cup will resume this Saturday.
To take place in Clark International Speedway, TMP’s premier motorsports program will again provide the wakudoki excitement that is safer for both participants and enthusiasts.
Fans can witness the real-time fun through the company’s official Facebook page starting 10 a.m. tomorrow.
During the first leg, familiar names in Vios Cup dominated the circuit race as Maila Alivia and Jiro Garbes dominated two of the three races for the Promotional Class while celebrity racers Troy Montero and Fabio Ide took one podium victory each.
Sporting Class top-three finishers were Inigo Anton, Julian Tang, and Joaquin Garrido while in Super Sporting Class, it was Gerard Loy, Estefano Rivera, Red Diwa finishing in the top three in the first two races.
In the Autocross challenge, the Celebrity Class victor was Alex Diaz followed by John Manalo and Jules Aquino. In the media division, Jose Altoveros held the highest position at the podium followed by Ian Magbanua and Iñigo Roces for second and third place, respectively.
To note, Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) is the Japanese automaker’s performance development arm specializing in motorsports, and is responsible for the development of ever-better cars through the experience of the racing environment.
“The Vios Cup OMR (One Make Race) embodies TGR’s goal of developing thrilling and reliable cars on and off the track, demonstrated by the exhilarating races of the Vios Cup,” TMP shared in its statement.
The Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup 2021 is organized in cooperation with Bridgestone, official fuel partner Petron, and is supported by Motul.
