Toyota Australia will be launching two new Land Cruiser variants, expanding the LC range in the Land Down Under. This dual strategy will see the introduction of two contrasting models: the Land Cruiser GR Sport which offers distinctive off-road character, and the Land Cruiser Sahara ZX which focuses on peerless on-road luxury.
“Our new GR Sport is the absolute expression of the Land Cruiser DNA; the ultimate 4WD that is specially equipped for owners who truly love driving on rough trails and in off-road rallies,” said Toyota Australia VP of Sales Marketing, and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley.
“The graceful styling of the Sahara ZX adds an even more prestigious and advanced high-quality image for customers who use their Land Cruiser primarily for urban driving and holiday getaways with their families,” added Hanley.
The two new models will sit above the Land Cruiser GX, GXL, VX, and Sahara which are currently offered in the Australian market.
“Impressive new or upgraded features and technologies across the all-new range represent remarkable value, taking Land Cruiser SUV luxury to new heights while advancing the legendary model's rugged reputation as the king off the road,” Hanley concluded.
The LC GR Sport will showcase its Dakar Rally roots with a prominent front design featuring bold “TOYOTA” lettering displayed across a gloss-black mesh honeycomb grille. Separating the GR Sport trim from other variants are GR Sport badges found on the grille, doors, tailgate, steering wheel, front-seat headrests, ignition button, and within the multimedia screen at start-up.
Giving the Gazoo Racing LC the true sporty look are black side-steps, door handles, mirror casings, window lines, and wheel arches. It will ride on similarly black 18-inch alloy wheels, designed and engineered for superior off-road performance and durability. In addition, the GR Sport’s front bumper and lower rear bumper are left unpainted to emphasize its off-road DNA.
Speaking of which, front and rear differential locks, as well as the e-KDSS (electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System), come as standard in the GR Sport.
The interior of the GR Sport LC can be had in either black with faux carbon fiber accents or red-and-black leather-accented trims.
On the other hand, the Land Cruiser Sahara ZX will feature a bold chrome grille flanked by sleek headlights, new taillights, and a remodeled tailgate. A unique front bumper, body-colored wheel-arch moldings, illuminated side steps, front-door scuff plates, rear mudguards, and chrome ornamentation on the thick rear bumper add to the Sahara ZX’s modern look.
The on-road-optimized LC will ride on 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, it features leather-accented interior trims that can be had in either black, beige, or red-and-black with faux carbon fiber accents on the steering wheel, center console, and door trims.
Other features shared by both the GR Sport and the Sahara ZX LC include five selectable driving modes, adaptive variable suspension, adaptive high beam, and carbon trims. Meanwhile, features specific to the Sahara ZX include four heated and ventilated seats, a hands-free tailgate with a kick sensor, and a torque-sensing limited-slip differential on the rear axle.
The Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport is priced at A$137,790 while the Sahara ZX is at A$138,790. The new variants are expected to hit Australian dealerships in the fourth quarter of this year.
