Toyota has unveiled an all-new Aqua, also known as the Toyota Prius C outside of Japan, earlier this week.
According to the Japanese carmaker, the all-new hybrid compact car is approximately 20 percent more fuel-efficient than the previous generation. To achieve this, Toyota used an innovative battery technology which makes the Aqua the world’s first hybrid car to use a high-output bipolar nickel-hydrogen battery.
The new battery, says Toyota, “realizes approximately twice the output.”
In addition, the all-new Aqua features Toyota’s “Comfort Pedal.” This technology allows drivers to enjoy a more relaxed driving experience by reducing the frequency with which accelerator and brake pedals have to be pressed.
The all-new Toyota Aqua is also equipped with the brand’s “E-Four,” a four-wheel-drive system designed for hybrid vehicles. Toyota claims that the E-Four technology gives their customers greater peace of mind when braving snow-covered roads.
Toyota also mentioned that the all-new Aqua will come with a slew of safety features like the Toyota Safety Sense which includes Full-Speed Range Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and Plus Support. Toyota Teammate Advanced Park and Parking Support Brake will also be featured in the all-new hybrid compact car.
Other updates to the Aqua include the extended wheelbase and new interior with a 10.5-inch audio display.
The all-new Toyota Aqua is made available in four variants both with front-wheel-drive and E-Four models. Prices range from ¥1,980,000 to ¥2,598,000.
Toyota will be offering the all-new Aqua via the Kinto One car subscription service with prices starting from ¥19,580 per month.
Locally, Toyota’s lineup of hybrid vehicles includes the Corolla Altis Hybrid, the Corolla Cross Hybrid, and the Prius.
