Following Toyota Thailand’s launch of the GR-spec Hilux, Toyota Japan has released a souped-up JDM version of the pickup truck.
The Z GR Sport Hilux released in the Land of the Rising Sun features mild visual upgrades including “GR-Sport” branding on the redesigned front grille flanked by specially decorated bi-beam LED headlamps with auto-leveling function.
Its side profile is highlighted by new wheel arches, black side mirrors, and new 18-inch black alloy wheels.
At the rear is a GR badge, a black tailgate handle, and black bumpers.
Inside, the JDM-spec GR Hilux is fitted with perforated black seats in Bran Nove with synthetic leather. The driver’s seat and the front passenger’s seat features GR embroidery along with red accents on the shoulders.
Toyota Japan’s GR-spec Hilux also has a dedicated 4.2-inch TFT color Optitron meter complete with GR badging. Likewise, the multifunctional steering wheel also features red accents and GR branding.
Under the hood, the four-wheel-drive Z GR Sport Hilux from Toyota packs a 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV engine mated to a super-intelligent six-speed automatic tranny.
Stopping power comes from ventilated disc brakes at the front and leading trailing drum brakes at the rear.
Suspension-wise, it gets a double-wishbone independent suspension coil spring (with stabilizer) at the front and a semi-elliptical leaf spring setup at the rear.
Pricing for the Toyota Z GR Sport Hilux is ¥4,312,000 (around P1.9 million).
