Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is currently conducting a service campaign to recall several Hilux GR-S units to replace their respective sports bars.
In a letter sent to Department of Trade and Industry Director for Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau Cherryl Carbonell, TMP First Vice President for Customer Service Operations Bernardino Arevalo revealed that 3,244 Toyota Hilux GR-S examples are affected by the recall, sharing that the units covered are those retailed in July 27, 2023 -April 24, 2024.
Arevalo said that under certain severe usage, the brackets of the sports bar may break and get detached from the vehicle.
He also said that the replacement of the Toyota Hilux GR-S sports bars will be offered for free “as part of its corporate commitment to product safety and quality.”
Those who are affected by the recall shall be notified through an official notification letter.
“However, while the replacement part is not yet available, our authorized Toyota Dealers will remove the Sports Bar to prevent potential problems from occurring. Please note that our authorized Toyota dealers will contact involved customers once the replacement part becomes available,” Arevalo noted.
Those who want to check if their vehicle is included in any active Toyota service campaign may visit the https://online.toyota.com.ph/service-campaign webpage.
