To recall, it was President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who broke the news in early 2023 about the company’s plan to bring back the iconic nameplate. Months later, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Chairman Akio Toyoda arrived in the country to officially reveal the concept vehicle.

During the Toyota Road Trek 17 last May, the Japanese marque’s local distributor showed the next-generation Tamaraw’s panel van, closed van, dropside, and patrol van body configurations — showcasing the vehicle’s versatility. The company then started the pre-order period within the third quarter of the year.

The company further highlighted the model at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show and presented the upcoming offering before the country’s chief executive.

The company  spent P4.4 billion  in the creation of an assembly line of the next-generation Tamaraw, updating the existing facility in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

    Specifications

Below are some of the vehicle’s specifications.

Developed under the IMV 0 platform, the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw has five body configurations — all measuring 5,305 millimeters (mm) long and 1,795 mm wide, with a 3,085-mm wheelbase.

Its height varies from 1,711-2,011 mm tall and its payload capacity can haul up to 1,125 kilograms — depending on the chosen body option.
