Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has made the RAV4's hybrid version available here to further promote sustainable mobility.
The Japanese automaker’s local arm in the country introduced the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid following the announcement made last month and two months after the company released the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
Around the world, the nameplate has proven its success after surpassing the 10-million mark over the course of 26 years and five iterations since its global debut. Locally, the leading automotive distributor shared that the Toyota RAV4 has been a constant challenger in its segment.
“Driven by the principle of Kaizen, or continuous improvement, it only bettered itself to achieve quality, performance, and practicality. And this year, the RAV4 takes the stage again, and this time, it is evolving into something much more purposeful,” TMP noted.
In a statement, TMP said that the crossover is fitted with exciting upgrades that include a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) system.
“The rapid succession of Toyota’s HEV model introductions in the country are an indicator that hybrid cars are now mainstream. Filipinos are ready for energy efficient mobility options with less emissions, and Hybrids offer choices that are practical and ready to use in our existing infrastructure and road conditions,” TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Sherwin Chualim said.
The new Toyota RAV4 HEV is powered by a 2,487-cc, 16-valve DOHC, four-cylinder engine, with VVT-iE for intake, and VVT-I for exhaust and a hybrid system.
Depending on the variant, the new Toyota RAV4 HEV rolls on either on 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels that complement the overall sporty look of the sport utility vehicle.
Sitting in the middle of the dashboard is a seven-inch display audio system that is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and is matched to a six-speaker output. It also features a wireless charging dock.
In terms of safety, the new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has been equipped with Toyota Safety Sense namely pre-collision system, automatic high beam, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, and dynamic radar cruise control. The top-level variant has a blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert.
Coming as standard is the camera, which has a panoramic view monitor for the top-of-the-line trim and reversing guide for the entry level.
TMP said that like the other members of the hybrid roster, the new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has a self-charging electric battery that automatically juices up when the vehicle shifts to its gas motor.
“When the car’s battery runs low, it automatically switches to gas motor and goes on to charge the battery without needing to be plugged into an outlet. The gas motor kicks in only when needed (such as in power-demanding road conditions). This makes for an added environmental benefit as there’s less need to charge and consume electricity,” TMP explained.
To ensure quality customer experience, the new Toyota RAV4’s hybrid battery has an eight-year warranty.
“The adoption of the HEV products remains to be TMP’s priority as electrified vehicles can only make a more positive impact through widespread use. The introduction of RAV4 HEV makes a case for the expanding line-up to cater varying needs of the market. This also aligns with Toyota President Akio Toyoda’s mission to contribute to the preservation of the environment, producing happiness to everyone,” the company said.
“This is driven by the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, which aims to achieve zero CO2 emissions and a net positive environmental impact. The six challenges initiated encompass Toyota’s entire operations, from the manufacture of new vehicles to plant emission, entire vehicle life cycle, water usage optimization, recycling technologies and systems, and connecting nature conservation activities,” it added.
