Toyota PH paces auto industry sales from January to May 2021
It was business as usual for perennial market leader Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), which continued to pace the Philippine automobile sector in the first five months of 2021 — opening a huge gap versus other car brands.
Based on consolidated data provided by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), and the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, Inc. (AVID), TMP’s total of 52,516 units sold from January to May gave it a comfortable margin over the competition. The total is some 35,000 units clear of second-runningcompetitor Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), with 16,925 vehicles sold).
The two Japanese brands are followed by the local distributor of American marque Ford, which delivered 8,239 vehicles to customers during the same period. Suzuki Philippines is right behind in fourth, just 47 units astray.
Nissan Philippines is in fifth place with 7,499 units moved. In sixth and seventh spots, respectively, are Isuzu Philippines Corporation and Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. with 5,632 and 5,273 vehicles sold. Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. is in eighth with 4,620 automobiles sold.
Geely importer Sojitz G Auto Philippines is ranked ninth with 1,933 units in total sales for the period; KP Motors Corporation (the Ayala-backed arm handling Kia) rounds up the top 10 with 1,484 units.
Eleventh placer Hino Motors Philippines (1,055 units) and 12th placer Foton Motor Philippines (1,011) complete the list of brands which managed to breach 1,000 vehicles in sales for the period.
