Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is planning to sell 900 units of Yaris Cross per month, a company executive told Carmudi Philippines.
In an interview, TMP Vice President for Marketing Services Elvin Luciano shared the company’s target, adding that the goal for the newly-launched nameplate’s hybrid version is 400 examples — nearly half of what is expected to be collectively sold by the brand’s local dealer network monthly.
Luciano also said that aforementioned target for the Toyota Yaris Cross (directly competing with the Nissan Kicks e-Power) highly achievable as the said vehicle is currently the most affordable new energy vehicle offering under TMP’s lineup.
To note, TMP now has seven models that offer hybrid powertrain options — the others being the Camry, Corolla Altis, Corolla Cross, Rav4 and Zenix.
“We are positioning the all-new Yaris Cross as the vehicle that will enable users to electrify their passions. The target market for this model are the fun and passionate individuals whose diverse interests and causes can be supported by a trusted mobility partner that is not only stylish, powerful, and comfortable, but also good for the planet,” Luciano noted.
“We are confident that the all-new Yaris Cross will further boost the goal of making widespread adoption of electrified vehicles practical and possible to more and more Filipinos. We are thankful for the positive reception by the public to this model so far, and the growing interest in the electrified variant,” he added.
Powering the vehicle is a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve engine (with an electric motor for the hybrid version), matched to a continuously variable transmission with paddle shifters.
In terms of dimensions, the Toyota Yaris Cross is 4,300 millimeters (mm) long, 1,770 mm wide and 1,615 mm tall — with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm and ground clearance of 260 mm. Such proportions make it sit in between the Toyota Raize and the Corolla Cross.
Available in three variants namely the G, V, and S HEV, the Toyota Yaris Cross pricing starts at P1.199 million.
