Some sad news for local motorsports fans: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has postponed the second race weekend for the Gazoo Racing (GR) Vios Cup initially set on September 11.
According to the leading mobility company in the country (which is also the organizer of the long-running one-make race series), the second leg will be deferred to October 16, in line with the current quarantine protocols imposed by the government as well as the recent spike of COVID-19 cases.
The changes in the race schedule, TMP shared, should also give the racers and teams more time to prepare for the races.
“As committed (as we were) when we opened the 2021 race season, the safety and well-being of our participants and partners will be our top priority. In view of the current surge in COVID-19 cases and the enforcement of new quarantine guidelines, we decided it is best for everyone to move the second leg originally scheduled on September 11 to a later date, October 16,” TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto said in a statement.
“We look forward to seeing you on the next race weekend in October. For now, we would like to remind everyone to stay safe and strictly follow safety and precautionary measures,” he added.
While waiting for the second leg, race fans can re-watch the action from the first race weekend on TMP’s official Facebook and Youtube channels (Toyota Motor Philippines and Toyota Gazoo Racing PH).
