Toyota PH to launch refreshed Fortuner next week

Toyota Fortuner

Following the reveal of the updated Hilux in the middle of last month, Japanese automotive titan Toyota is set to launch another vehicle, and we believe it will be the refreshed version of the seven-seater SUV, Fortuner.

Without revealing the model that will be introduced, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced that they will be launching a vehicle next week (Saturday, October 17).

After snooping for some information, Carmudi was advised that the upcoming vehicle launchwhich follows the string of online launches for the Japanese marque (Toyota Hilux, ViosCorolla Cross, and Wigo)will be the virtual reveal for the facelifted Fortuner.

Aside from this, numerous photos of the new model are now making rounds in the local automotive scene.

As we seek more information about the vehicle launch, the Thailand-spec Fortuner is said to be the one that will be offered here—in a left-hand drive configuration, of course.

Based on the Thailand version, the Fortuner sports a redesigned front grille, which is the standout modification for the said model. Aside from that, the taillamp and headlight design will also come with some minor alterations to complement the overall look compared to the current model that we still have.

Aside from that, no gasoline variants will be available in the upcoming Fortuner, as the Thailand version only offers a 2.4 or 2.8 liter, four cylinder in line, 16-valve, DOHC, VN Turbo and Intercooler.

Also with its Thai counterpart, the Fortuner has two main variants, the Fortuner and the Fortuner Legender. These two are subdivided in the following:

  • Fortuner 2.4G, 2.4V and 2.4V 4WD;
  • Fortuner Legender 2.4, 2.4 4WD, 8 Legender, 2.8 4WD

As of the moment, we hope that the Legender variety will be brought to local shores, as this could further claim more ground for Toyota in terms of off-road capabilities.

Further, the latest Fortuner seen in Thailand has Toyota Safety Sense features such as the Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Down Hill Assist Control (DAC), Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist, among others.

The pricing for the Fortuner in Thailand starts at THB 1.349 million (which translates to around P2.072 million) up to THB1.839 million (P2.828 million). Since that is already the pricing there, we could expect also an upgrade in its pricing here.
