The annual motorsport series is scheduled to be held at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga on the following dates: July 13, September 28, and November 9.
According to the leading automotive distributor in the country, the event will be expanding to provide “ever-better experiences for fans with more activities to look out for.”
TMP noted that the Sprint Race (formerly known as Circuit Championship) will have a rich mix of new and returning racers from various teams competing in the Novice, Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting categories.
Celebrities Ryan Agoncillo and Troy Montero shall participate in the Super Sporting class while celebrities, influencers and members of the motoring media who have shown skills in the previous editions’ Autocross Challenge will join in the newly-formed Novice class.
Additionally, all classes will also take part in the event’s Endurance Race (then called the Grand Prix 2024 in the TGR Vios Cup).
Endurance Race is a one and half-hour competition that will highlight the capabilities of the Vios race car. On the other hand, the Sprint Race (then known as the Circuit Championship) is a 12-lap or 30-minute race that will test the skill of the drivers.
Per TMP, the time-attack slalom-type Autocross Challenge will be held in a separate TGR tour and shall be opened to more drivers and audiences.
The company also said that TGR car club members will be given exclusive access to the tracks to drive their GR vehicle and e-racers may showcase their talents in the TGR GT Cup experience booth for a chance to win a prize.
Further a drifting exhibition shall also be conducted using the Toyota GR86 and event-goers will also be given the opportunity to ride shotgun with professional drifters.
Those in the event may get freebies and prizes, buy official GR merchandise, test drive vehicles and enjoy a live stage program.
“In 2014, TMP launched its motorsports program dedicated to producing high-performance cars, activating exciting motorsports events, and creating unique experiences for fans,” TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Danny Cruz was quoted as saying.
“Our hope for this new chapter of Toyota motorsports in the Philippines is to elevate the experience even further for fans by providing them with more ways to enjoy Toyota Gazoo Racing,” he added.
The TGR Philippine Cup’s official partners are Petron, GT Radial, and Seiko. It is also supported by Toyota Financial Services Philippines, myToyota Wallet, Denso, AVT, 3M, Rota, Tuason Racing, OMP, and Kinto One.
