An executive of the Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) disclosed that the all-new GR86 will be officially unveiled next month.
TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Sherwin Chua Lim shared the information following the model’s sneak preview at the Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR) Festival yesterday (July 21).
“Watch (for it, as ), we are launching this next month we'll see this on the road by August,” he revealed to select members of the media.
Aside from that, he said that the much-awaited vehicle will come in both manual and automatic transmission variants.
Prior to the confirmation, TMP Assistant Vice President for PR and Communications Elvin Luciano said that the all-new Toyota GR86’s upcoming launch is timely considering that the company had already been receiving queries about its arrival when its sister model, the Subaru BRZ, was launched locally.
“We are optimistic that the GR86 will have a very strong following once it is officially launched,” Luciano told Carmudi Philippines.
The pricing, reservation, and other details are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
The all-new Toyota GR86 sports a bigger 2.4-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine (the previous version had a 2.0-liter boxer engine) that is matched to a six-speed (manual and automatic) transmission.
The Gazoo-fied version of the Toyota 86 had its debut in April last year, weeks after the second-generation Subaru BRZ was first shown to the world.
